37) STUDY OLD TESTAMENT 

Ro.15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 

I Cor.10:6&11 Now these things occurred as examples ...and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the end of the ages has come. 

Heb.10:1 The Law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming - not the realities themselves. 

Heb.8:5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. 

Col.2:16-17 (the regulations of the law)... These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality however is found in Christ. (parenthesis added) 

Gal.3:24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ... 

38) ACT ON WORD 

Ja.1:22 Do not merely listen to the Word... do what it says. 

Ja.2:26 Faith without deeds is dead. 

Phil.4:9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. 

Joshua 1:8 Do not let this book of then law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be successful and prosperous, ( editor's note: new covenant for us; but same admonition) 

Heb.4:2 For we also have had the gospel preached to us; just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them because those who heard it did not combine it with faith. 

Lk.11:24 ...blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey it. 

Acts 26:20 ...I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds. 

Lk.8:21 ... my mother and brothers are those who hear God's Word and put it into practice. 

Ps.119:9 How can a young man keep his way (soul) pure? By living according to Your Words. (parenthesis added) 

39) FOLLOW PLAN  

Gal.5:7 You were running a good race, who cut in and kept you from obeying the truth? 

I Cor.9:24 Run in such a way as to get the price. 

II Tim.2:5 ...if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victors crown unless he competes according to the rules... reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. 

Phil.3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heaven ward in Christ Jesus. 

Ex.40:34 Then the cloud covered the tent of Meeting, and the Lord filled the Tabernacle. (eidtor's note: When? After it was built according to the pattern - see Heb.8:5) 

II Chron.5:1&13 When all the work Solomon had done for the temple of the Lord was finished ... Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud ...the glory of the Lord filled the temple (eidtor's note: When? After it was built according to the pattern - see I Chron.28:12) 

I Cor.6:19; I Pe.2:5; Haggai 2:9; II Cor.3:8&18 and Phil.3:21 (editor's note: our physical bodies are being guilt into a living temple which God's glory will inhabit; more than merely our faces will radiate this glory. It will be our entire body as was true with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. But this will not happen until the Church lives and builds according to God's pattern. After all, God's glory has never inhabited one of His temples until after it has been built according to His pattern.) 

40) WALK BY FAITH 

Heb.11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 

II Cor.4:18 ...we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. 

Jer.44:17-18&23 ( editor's note: paid attention to physical circumstances which were misleading and thereby sinned against God.) 

II Cor.5:7 we live by faith and not by sight. 

Ro.4:17 God ...who calls things that are not as though they were. 

Heb.11:3 What is seen was not made out of what is visible. 

Prov.3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. 

John 4:24 God is Spirit. 

Rev.4:11 ... You created all things... (editor's note: spirit creates physical) 

Ro.4:19 Without weakening in his faith he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead ...yet he did not waiver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith ...it was credited to him as righteousness. 

Hab.2:4 The righteous will live by faith. 

Ro.14:23 everything that does not come from faith is sin. 

Heb.11:6 Without faith it is impossible to please God. 

Eph.6:13 ...put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand. 

II Cor.1:24 ...it is by faith you stand 

Isaiah 7:9 If you don't stand firm in your faith you will not stand at all. 

Ez.14:13&20 Son of man, if a country sins against me... and I stretch out my hand against it... even if these three men; Noah, Daniel and Job were in it; they could save only themselves, they could save neither son nor daughter. They would save only themselves by their righteousness. 

Heb.11:20 ...they were broken off because of unbelief and you stand by faith 

Mk.11:14 Have faith of God 

Mk.11:24 whatever you ask for in prayer believe that you have received it and it will be yours. (just because you do not see it in the physical realm does not mean that it is not already yours in the spiritual realm) 

II Ki.6:15&17 'Oh my lord, what shall we do?' the servant asked, and Elisha prayed "Oh Lord open his eyes so that he may see." Then the Lord opened the servants eyes and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (editor's note: faith will change the physical circumstances of our lives so that they conform to the spiritual reality.) 

I Tim.4:1 Some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits. 

Jude 19 These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. 

Ro.10:17 Faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the Word of Christ. 

Prov.1:32 ... the complacency of fools will destroy them. 

41) MIRACLES DON'T BUILD PERMANENT FAITH 

Neh.9:17 They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles You performed among them. 

Ps.78:10 They forgot what He has done, the wonders He had showed them. 

Nu.14:11 How long will they refuse to believe in Me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them? 

42) MIRACLES 

Mk.16:17&20 And these signs will accompany those who believe; in My name they will speak in new tongues... The Lord worked with them and confirmed His Word by the signs that accompanied it.

 Isaiah 8:18 we are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty who dwells on Mt Zion. 

John 14:12 ...anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things. 

II Cor.12:12 The things that mark an apostle - signs, wonders and miracles. 

Heb.2:4 This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will. 

John 20:30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of His disciples which were not recorded in this book. but these are written that you may believe. 

John 2:2 Now while He was in Jerusalem... many people saw the miraculous signs He was doing and believed in His name. 

Acts 2:22 Jesus of Nazerath was a man accredited by God to you by miraculous signs and wonders (John 14:11 ...at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.) 

Matt.10:8 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions ...heal the sick, raise the dead, drive out demons... 

Lk.10:17&19 The seventy two returned with joy... He replied, I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the powers of the enemy... 

I Thes.1:5 ... because our Gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. 

Acts 10:44-46 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all ... the circumcised ...were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured on the gentiles ... for they heard them speaking in tongues. 

I Cor.14:24 ...but if an unbeliever ....comes in while everyone is prophesying he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner ...so he will fall down and worship God. 

I Cor.14:12 Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts try to excell in gifts that build up the church. 

I Cor.14:31 For you can all prophecy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 

43) GOD DOES NOT LIE 

Titus 1:2 ...resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time. 

Heb.6:18 ...it is impossible for God to lie... 

I Sam.15:29 He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie. 

II Sam.7:28 O Sovereign Lord, you are God; Your Words are trustworthy 

Nu.23:19 God is not a man that He should lie. 

Ps.5:6 You destroy those who tell lies 

Isaiah 45:19 I the Lord speak the truth. 

44) GOD DOES NOT CHANGE 

Heb.6:17 ...God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear... 

Ja.1:17 ...coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows... 

Mal.3:6 I the Lord do not change. 

Heb.1:12 But you remain the same 

Heb.13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever. 

Ps.89:34 I will not violate My covenant or alter what My lips have uttered. 

Ps.110:4 The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind. 

Isaiah.45:23 My mouth has uttered in all integrity a Word that will not be revoked. 

Job 42:2 ... no plan of Yours can be thwarted 

45) GOD DOES NOT SHOW FAVORITISM 

Acts 10:34 I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 

Deut.10:17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality. 

II Chron.19:7 For with the Lord our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery 

Ro.2:11 For God does not show favoritism 

I Pe.1:17 Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 

Eph.6:9 ... there is no favoritism with Him (Father) (parenthesis added) 

I Tim.5:21 ... I charge you in the sight of God... to keep these instructions ...and do nothing out of favoritism. 

Prov.28:21 To show partiality is not good... 

46) WE ARE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM 

Gal.3:7 Understand then, that those who believe are children of Abraham

Ro.9:8 It is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring. 

Eph.3:6 This mystery is that through the gospel the gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. 

John 11:51 ...he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation and not only for that nation, but also for the scattered children of God. 

Eph.4:25 ... we are all members of one body 

Gal.6:16 JB Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, who form the Israel of God 

Ro.10:12 For there is no difference between Jew and gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him.

John 10:16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

Col.1:24 ...for the sake of His body which is the Church.

47) BLESS ISRAEL 

Gen.12:3 I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse.

Gen.31:7&9 ...yet your father had cheated me by changing wages ten times... so God has taken away your father's livestock and has given them to me.

Jer.2:3 Israel was holy to the Lord, the firstfruits of His harvest, all who devour her were held guilty and disaster overtook them.

48) CONFESS - VERBALIZE 

Ro.10:10 It is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 

Matt.10:32 Whoever acknowledges Me before men, I will also acknowledge him before My Father in heaven. But whoever disowns Me before men; I will disown Him before My Father in heaven. 

Prov.18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death. 

Prov.18:7 ...a fool's mouth is his undoing and his lips are a snare to his soul. 

Prov.12:13 An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. 

Prov.12:18 Reckless words pierce like a sword.

49) SPEAK NOT IN HASTE  

Prov.18:13 He who answers before listening. That is his folly and shame. 

Ja.1:19 ...everyone should be quick to listen and slow to speak... 

Prov.29:20 Do you see a man who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for him. 

Prov.17:27 A man of knowledge uses words with restraint. 

Prov.13:3 He who guards is lips guards his soul, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin. 

Eccl.3:1&7 There is a time for everything... A time to be silent and a time to speak. 

Prov.10:19 When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise. 

Ja.3:2 ...If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. 

50) PRIDE  

I Cor.3:18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age he should become a fool so that he may become wise. 

Obadiah 3 (to Edom) ...the pride of your heart has deceived you. (parenthesis added) 

Matt.11:25 I praise You Father... because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to little children. 

Matt.18:4 ...whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 

Mk.12:38-40 Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes... and to have the places of honor at banquets... such men will be punished most severely. 

Prov.18:12 Before the downfall a man's heart is proud; but humility comes before honor. 

Prov.11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but with humility comes wisdom.

Lev.26:19 I will break down your stubborn pride. 

Isaiah 2:12 The Lord has a day in store for all the proud and lofty; for all that is exalted and they will be humbled. 

Dan.4:37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar praise and exalt and glorify the king of heaven... those who walk in pride He is able to humble. 

II Chron.26:16 ...after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. 

Ps.18:27 You save the humble, but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. 

51) HUMBLE 

Prov.15:33 ...humility comes before honor 

Ja.4:10 Humble yourself before the Lord, and He will lift you up. 

Ps.145:14 The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. 

Phil.2:8&9 ...He humbled Himself and became obedient to death... therefore God exalted Him to the highest place. 

II Chron.7:14 ...If My people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 

Ja.4:7 Submit yourselves then to God. 

Micah 6:8 What does the Word require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. 

Isaiah 66:2 This is the one I esteem; He who is humble and contrite in spirit. 

Matt.19:30 Many who are first will be last and many who are last will be first. 

I Pe.5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under God's mighty hand that He may lift you up in due season. 

Prov.3:34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble. 

II Chron.12:7 Since they have humbled themselves I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. 

Lk.14:11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted. 

I Ki.3:7 For I am only a child and do not know how to carry out my duties.

52) LEAST 

I Cor.1:27 God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast. 

I Sam.16:7 The Lord does not look at the things man looks at, the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 

Judges 6:15 (Gideon)... My clan is the weakest in Manassah, and I am the least of my family. (parenthesis added) 

I Sam.9:21 Saul answered, but am I not a Benjamite, from the smallest tribe of Israel and not my clan the least of all the clans of the tribe of Benjamin? 

I Sam.16:11&13 ...are these all the sons you have? "There is still the youngest" Jesse answered, "But he is tending the sheep." Samuel said, "Send for him" ...so Samuel ...anointed him ...from that day on the Spirit ...came upon David in power. 

Nu.22:28 Then the Lord opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam... 

Micah 5:2 But you Bethlehem Ephrathah though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for Me one who will rule over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.

53) OBEDIENCE 

Eccl.12:13 Keep His commands for this is the whole duty of man... 

II Cor.10:5 ...we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 

Acts 5:32 We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him. 

Heb.5:8 Although He was a Son He learned obedience from what He suffered... 

Phil.2:8-9 ...He humbled Himself and became obedient to death... therefore God exalted Him to the highest place. 

I John 2:4 The man who says, "I know Him" but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him. Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did. 

Ro.1:5 ...we received grace and apostleship to call God's people from among the gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. 

Heb.11:8 By faith Abraham ...obeyed and went even though he did not know where he was going. 

John 9:11 ...He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed and then I could see. ( editor's note: healing after obedience) 

II Ki.5:12 Are not... the rivers of Damascus better than any of the waters of Israel? Couldn't I wash in them and be cleansed? So he turned and went off in a rage. Naaman's servants went to him and said, "Father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing would you not have done it?" ...so he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times as the man of God had told him and his flesh was restored. (editor's note: healing after obedience) 

Mk.3:5 He looked at them in anger and deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out and his hand was completely restored. 

I Sam.15:22 To obey is better than sacrifice. 

Micah 5:15 I will take vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed Me. 

II Thes.1:8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. 

I Pe.4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the Gospel of our God? 

Deut.28:2 All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God. 

Ja.4:7 Submit yourselves than to God 

Ps.8:13-14 If My people would but listen to Me, if Israel would follow My ways how quickly would I subdue their enemies. 

54) PLEASE GOD 

Ro.12:1 Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.

Eph.5:10 ...find out what pleases the Lord 

Heb.11:6 Without faith it is impossible to please God. 

Heb.10:38 My righteous one will live by faith and if he shrinks back I will not be pleased with him. 

Ro.8:8 Those controled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 

I John 2:6 Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did. 

Mk.1:11 You are My Son whom I love, with You I am well pleased. 

Phil.4:18 They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice pleasing to God (editor's note: tithes, gifts etc.) 

Heb.13:16 ...do not forget to do good and to share with others for with such sacrifices God is pleased. 

I Tim.2:1&2 ...requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone... this pleases God. 

Ja.1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure... look after orphans and widows... keep oneself from being polluted by the world. 

I Tim.5:4 ...caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents for this is pleasing to God. 

Prov.15:8 ...the prayer of the upright pleases Him... 

II Chron.1:10 Give me wisdom and knowledge 

I Ki.3:10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this... 

Prov.16:7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord He even makes His enemies live at peace with him. 

Heb.11:5 For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God (editor's note: Enoch was translated into God's presence with out first tasting death) 

55) BEAR FRUIT  

Gal.5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. 

Lk.3:9 The ax is already at the root of the tree and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. 

Lk.13:6-8 ...for three years now I've been coming to look for fruit... haven't found any. Cut it down. 

Dan.4:14 Cut down the tree and trim off its branches, strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. 

John 15:8 This is to My Father's glory, that you bear fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples. 

Matt.7:16 By their fruit you will recognize them. 

Lk.6:43 No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 

Eph.5:9 ...for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteous and truth. 

I Thes.5:5 We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 

Eph.5:11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness but rather expose them. 

John 15:1&2 I am the true vine and My Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He trims so that it will be even more fruitful. 

Mk.4:19 ...others, like the seed sown among the thorns, hear the Word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the Word, making it unfruitful. 

Gal.6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 

John 15:5 If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit. 

56) RESIST SATAN 

Ja.4:7 Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 

I Cor.10:13 ...He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted He will also provide a way out so you can stand under it. 

Eph.4:13 ...Put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything to stand. 

Deut.28:7 The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. 

57) CONTINUOUS FIGHT WITH SATAN  

I Tim.6:12 Fight the good fight of faith. 

Lk.4:13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left Him until an opportune time. 

Eph.6:12 Our struggle is not against flesh and blood... (editor's note: struggle or wrestle in KJV indicates more than just a onetime occurrence.)

58) HOLINESS  

Heb.10:14 ...because by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. (editor's note - "being made holy" is present progressive in nature. It is an ongoing process) 

II Cor.7:1 ...let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (Rev.19:7 ...bride has made herself ready) 

I Pe.1:15 ...be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy because I am holy." (Lev.11:44-45; Lev.19:2 & Lev.20:7) 

I Thes.4:3 It is God's will that you should be holy. 

Ps.15:1-2 Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on Your holy hill? ...He whose walk is blameless. 

Ps.24:3-4 Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? ...He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol. 

Isaiah 35:8-10 ...A highway will be there, it will be called the way of holiness. The unclean will not journey on it.

59) DEPART FROM EVIL 

I Thes.5:22 Avoid every kind of evil 

Prov.16:6 ...through the fear of the Lord a man avoids evil 

Eph.5:5-7 No immoral, impure, or greedy person... has any inheritance in the kingdom of ...God ...do not be partners with them. 

Matt.5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God 

Ro.13:14 ...do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 

Ps.5:4 you are not a God who takes pleasure in evil, with you the wicked cannot dwell. 

Ja.4:4 Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 

I Pe.1:14 ..as obedient children do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 

Rev.2:5 If you do not repent I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. 

II Tim.3:2-7 ...people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 

II Cor.6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers (KJV) 

Phil.3:18-19 Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ... their mind is on earthly things. 

Ro.8:13 If you live according to the sinful nature you will die. 

Prov.11:21 Be sure of this; the wicked will not go unpunished. 

Col.3:5 Put to death therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature... immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, greed... 

Titus 2:11 Grace of God... teaches us to say "no" to ungodliness and worldly pleasures. 

Prov.4:14 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it. 

Eph.4:17 You must no longer live as the gentiles do. 

Ja.1:26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight reign on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 

60) SPEAK NO EVIL 

Matt.12:34 For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 

Ja.3:10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 

Prov.4:23-24 Above all else, guard your heart for it is the well spring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth keep corrupt talk from your lips. 

Eph.4:25 ...each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor. 

Col.3:9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices... 

Titus 3:2 Remind the people... to slander no one. 

Prov.11:12 A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbors, but a man of understanding holds his tongue. 

Eph.4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs. 

Col.4:6 Let you conversation be always full of grace. 

Eph.5:4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 

Prov.8:7-8 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness, all the words of my mouth are just. None of them is crooked or perverse.

Prov.19:5 A false witness will not go unpunished and he who pours out lies will not go free. 

Prov.11:11 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted but by the mouth of the wicked is it destroyed. 

Prov.10:21 the lips of the righteous nourish many. 

61) KEEP BODY PURE 

Ro.12:1 ...offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God which is your spiritual worship. 

I Cor.6:20 You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 

John 4:22 God is Spirit and His worshippers must worship in spirit in truth. 

II Cor.7:1 Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body... 

I Cor.3:16 ...your yourselves are God's temple and God's Spirit lives in you. If anyone destroys God's temple God will destroy Him for God's temple is sacred. 

I Cor.6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All pother sins a man commits are outside his body. But he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 

II Cor.4:7 ...but we have this treasure in earthen vessels... 

II Tim.2:20 In a large house there are vessels not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. 

Phil.3:19 ...many live as enemies of the cross. Their destiny is destruction their god is their stomach... 

Prov.23:2 ...put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony 

Prov.28:7 ...a companion of gluttons disgraces his father 

Lk.12:29 ...do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink, do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things. 

Heb.12:16 See that no one is sexually immoral or godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights. 

I Cor.8:8 ...food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat and no better if we do. Be careful however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 

I Cor.10:25 Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience. 

Ro.14:2 One man's faith allows him to eat everything but another whose faith is weak eats... vegetables. 

Acts 10:15 Do not call anything impure that God has made clean 

Matt.15:11 What goes into a man's mouth does not make him unclean 

Mk.7:19 ...in saying this Jesus declared all foods clean. 

I John 3:1 Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 

Ro.8:23-24 ...we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies... For in this hope we were saved. 

62) HOMOSEXUALITY 

Lev.18:22 Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman, that is detestable 

Judges 19:22 ...some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house... bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him. 

Ro.1:25-27 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator... because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their woman exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 

I Cor.6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolators, not adulterers, nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 

63) IMMORALITY AND ADULTERY  

Ex.20:14 You shall not commit adultery 

Prov.5:1,3,4,8 My son, pay attention to my wisdom... the lips of an adulteress drip honey... but in the end she is bitter as gall... her feet go down to death... keep to a path far from her do not go near the door of her house... 

Mal.3:5 I will be quick to testify against... adulterers. 

Matt.5:27 You hear that it was said, "Do not commit adultery"... 

Prov.6:20,24,26 My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teachings... keeping you from the immoral woman from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife... the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread and the adulteress preys upon your very life. 

Gal.5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious... sexual immorality... 

Eph.5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or any kind of impurity... because of these the wrath of God is coming. 

Rev.21:8 ... the sexual immoral, their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. 

Rev.2:21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. 

WHY THIS EMPHASIS ON SEXUAL IMMORALITY? 

I Cor.6:13 The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord and the Lord for the body... do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ Himself? Shall I take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh" But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit. Flee sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you?... 

64) SORCERY 

Deut.18:10-12 Let no one be found among you who... practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord ... vs14... the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so. 

Lev.19:26 Do not practice divination or sorcery. 

II Ki.21:6 (King Manasseh of Judah) He... practiced sorcery and divination and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.(parenthesis added) 

Isaiah 8:19 When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? 

Lev.18:31 Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. 

Deut.19:26 Do not practice divination or sorcery. 

Mal.3:5 I will be quick to testify against sorcerers. 

Rev.21:8 ...those who practice sorcery... their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur (Greek word for sorcery is pharmakeia, from which we get the word 'pharmacy'. Sorcery then is the illicit use of drugs. 

Ex.22:18 Do not allow a sorceress to live. 

Gal.5:20 The acts of the sinful nature are ... witchcraft ...those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 

I Sam.15:21 For rebellion is like the sin of divination 

Acts 16:16 ...we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future (Greek word puthon means a 'fortune teller') ...vs18 ...in the Name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her. At that moment the spirit left her (parenthesis added) (editor's note: she was saying that Paul preached a way to salvation; whereas, Jesus is the way to salvation) 

65) SPIRITISM 

Ps.78:39 He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return 

Isaiah 26:14 They are now dead, they live no more; those departed spirits do not rise. 

Eccl.9:3-4 ...and afterward they join the dead... the dead know nothing; they have no further reward. 

Ps.115:17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord, those who go down to silence;... ( editor's note:  these verses refer not to a state of non-existence after death, but to the fact that the dead have no further activity, or relevance to life on earth. As to believers and unbelievers who have died, there are only two alternatives: see following) 

Eccl.12:7 The spirit returns to God who gave it 

Eccl.3:21 (note "c") Who knows the spirit of man, which rises upward, or the spirit of the animal which goes down into the earth. 

Lk.16:22-23 The rich man also died and was buried. IN hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his sided...(emphasis added) 

Matt.10:28 ...be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (ie. spirit returns to God and is in heaven. In unbelievers the soul is being tormented in hell from which there is no escape or release: see following) 

Lk.16:26 (Abraham speaking) ... between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us. (parenthesis added, editor's note: God does not send those who have died to minister unto men: see following) 

Lk.16:31 (Abraham speaking to rich man) "He said to him, "If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead." (parenthesis added eidtor's note:  Therefore, the "spirits," or voices which are being communicated with us  are not those of our departed friends or relatives, but evil spirits sent by satan to deceive us: see following) 

I Tim.4:1 ...some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 

II Cor.11:14 For satan himself masquerades as an angel of light... his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. ( editor's note: Therefore, communication with what may seem to be a dead person is in reality communication with an evil spirit. God, for our own good, prohibits such actions: see following) 

Lev.20:6 I will set My face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists... 

Deut.18:10-12 Let no one be found among you... who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. 

Lev.20:27 A man or woman who is a medium or spiritists among you must be put to death. 

II Ki.21:6 (Manasseh - King of Judah) ...he ...consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, provoking Him to anger. (parenthesis added) 

II Ki.23:24 Josiah (a later king of Judah) got rid of the mediums and spiritists... This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law... (parenthesis added) 

Rev.21:8 ...those who practice the magic arts (sorcery, witchcraft, mediums & spiritists - not slight of hand magicians) ... their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur (parenthesis added) 

John 8:44 (Jerusalem Bible) ...(the devil) he was a murder from the start; he was never grounded in the truth; there is no truth in him at all. (parenthesis added - satan will always mislead. he will use half truths and even go so far as to use Scripture out of context such as he did with Jesus in Matt.4:3-11) 

Isaiah 8:19 When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists... should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? (editor's note: There are numerous accounts of God sending angels - who never were nor will they ever be men - to actually help or communicate with men see Lk.1:26-38; Lk.1:11 & Judges 6:11 just to name a few. How do you know the difference between an angelic messenger from the Lord and a demonic counterfeit? Simple, no messenger of God will ever conflict with what the Word says on any point - see Gal.1:8 If you are still unsure, see following) 

I John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you recognize the Spirit of God: Every Spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God... 

I Cor.12:3 ...no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed." 

66) STRIFE  

Prov.20:3 It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel 

I Cor.1:10 I appeal to you brother... that there may be no divisions among you. 

Ja.3:16 ...where you have envy and selfish ambition there you find disorder and every evil practice. 

Gal.5:19-20 The acts of the sinful nature are ...dissensions 

Ro.13:13 Let us live decently... not in dissension 

I Cor.12:25 ...there should be no division in the body... its parts should have equal concern for each other. 

Gen.13:8 So Abraham said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me..." 

Prov.16:28 A perverse man stirs up dissension and a gossip separates close friends. 

Prov.10:12 hatred stirs up dissension but love covers all wrongs. 

II Tim.2:24 The Lord's servants must not quarrel 

Prov.17:14 Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. 

Ro.16:17 I urge you brothers to watch out for those who cause divisions... keep away from them. 

Prov.22:10 Drive out a mocker, and out goes quarrels and insults are ended. 

Gal.5:15 If you keep on biting and devouring each other watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. 

Titus 3:10 Warn a divisive person once, a second time... after that have nothing to do with him (note: II Thes.3:14 cautions us to do so in love.) 

Prov.6:16&19 There are six things the Lord hates... A man who stirs up dissension among brothers 

67) ANGER  

Prov.22:24 Do not make friends with a hot tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. 

Ps.37:8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret - it leads only to evil. 

Eph.4:26 In your anger do not sin, do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold. 

Prov.29:22 An angry man stirs up dissension and a hot tempered one commits many sins 

Prov.19:19 A hot tempered man must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do it again. 

Ja.1:19 Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 

Matt.5:22 ...I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment 

Prov.29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. 

II Tim.1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power and of self control (see Titus 2:11-12 & Gal.5:22) 

Prov.17:27 A man of understanding is even tempered 

Prov.14:29 A patient man has great understanding but a quick tempered man displays folly. 

Col.3:8 But now you must rid yourself of all such things as these; rage, anger, malice... 

Titus 1:7 Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be ...not quick tempered 

I Tim.2:8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer without anger or disputing 

68) REVENGE 

Deut.32:35 It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near. 

Prov.20:22 Do not say, "I'll pay you back for this wrong." Wait for the Lord, He will deliver you. 

Rev.6:10 How long Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until You judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood? ...they were told to wait a little longer. 

Lk.18:7-8 ...and will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones who cry out to Him day and night? ...I tell you He will see that they get justice and quickly. 

Ps.94:3&23 How long will the wicked, O Lord, how long will the wicked be jubilant? ...He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them. 

Ro.12:17-19 Do not repay anyone evil for evil... do not take revenge, my friends but leave room for God's wrath. 

I Pe.2:3 (false teachers) Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. 

69) USURY  

Lev.25:35 If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him ...so he can continue to live among you. Do not take interest of any kind from him but fear your God so that your countryman may continue to live among you. You must not lend him money at interest or sell him food at a profit. 

Ez.18:13 He lends at usury and takes excessive interest... will such a man live? he will not! 

Neh.5:6-12 You are exacting usury from your own countrymen... what you are doing is not right... let the extracting of usury stop... 

Hab.2:6 Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion... vs9 woe to him who builds his realm by unjust gain. 

Prov.28:8 He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another who will be kind to the poor. 

Ps.15:1&5 Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? ...he ...who lends his money without usury. 

Deut.23:19 Do not charge your brothers interest whether on money or food or anything else that may earn interest. (editor's note: two Hebrew words used for "interest" 1) neh shech as used in Lev.25:35 & Ps.15:1&5 - it is also translated as "snake bite" in Nu.21:9, Amos 5:19 & Prov.23:32   2) nah shah as used in Neh.5:7; however it is also translated as "beguiled" in Gen.3:13 therefore, interest is associated with both deception and venom.) 

Deut.15:1&3 At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts ...you may require repayment from a foreigner, but you must cancel any debt your brother owes you. 

Neh.10:31 ...every seventh year we will forgo working the land and will cancel all debts. 

Matt.5:42 Give to the one who asks you and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. 

Ps.32:25 I have never seen the righteous forsaken... they are always generous and lend freely. 

Lk.6:34-35 ...if you lend to those from whom you expect payment what credit is that to you, even sinners lend to sinners expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. 

Lk.6:30 Give to everyone who asks you and if anyone takes what belongs to you do not demand it back. 

Prov.19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and He will reward him for what he has done. 

Prov.11:25 A generous man will prosper, he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. 

70) LAWSUITS 

Lk.6:29-30 If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic... If anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back...vs35 ...then ...you will be Sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 

Matt.5:39 Do not resist an evil person. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek turn to him the other also... If anyone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 

I Cor.6:1 If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints. 

Ps.1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked... 

Prov.12:5 ...the advice of the wicked is deceitful 

I Cor.6:2 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. 

Ps.37:33 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous... but the Lord will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned when brought to trial. 

Prov.22:23 ...do not crush the needy in court for the Lord will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them. 

Prov.20:22 Do not say, "I'll pay you back for this wrong." wait for the Lord and He will deliver you (editor's note: We do not need to rely upon man's system of lawsuits to prevail over evil. God has promised us that He will provide for us. When He does, we save attorney's fees and avoid the delays found in today's legal system.
