We left Many Waters about 9:30 AM on Wednesday. Our destination was Durango, CO, so we only had a short ride. Actually our destination was a laundromat in Durango, as we had not done our clothes for the last 10 days, and we were just about out of anything clean. After doing the laundry and having lunch we headed for Lightner
Creek Clear but cold!!! Kenn, Andy,
Paul
Lightner Creek Campground was a beautiful place to decompress after
our Mission Adventure.
During a moment alone, I was praying and thanking the Lord for all that He had done for us these past 12 days, (2 days traveling to Colorado and then the 10 days of the Mission Adventure). As I was praying I was asking Him to continue to pour out His traveling mercies and bring us safely home. On the way out we only had one brief moment of concern, and that was coming down Wolf Creek Pass when the Escort Evan was driving stalled. When I finished my prayer I looked up, and you guessed it - a beautiful rainbow ran completely across the valley in which Lightner Creek campground is located! Needless to say, I had complete peace about the remainder of our trip home. On Thursday we rode the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway to Silverton, CO. While the ride was long, the scenery was magnificant. Every where we turned it got more beautiful.
All aboard!
We arrived at
Royal Gorge around 1:30 and spent about 2 hours riding the tram, walking across
the bridge and then taking the incline down to the bottom of the gorge.
That night we stayed at Garden of the God's Campground in Colorado Springs and had dinner at the Flying 'W' ranch. Paul, Kenn, Andy, Evan, Amanda and Stephanie On Saturday we drove to Topeka, KS where we pitched our tent for the last time at the Topeka KOA. That night we had a campfire and made smores. On Sunday we headed for home and pulled in the driveway of our house about 4:00 in the afternoon.
When Kenn and Stephanie got to their house, there was a suprise waiting for them. You see, their parents were away for several weeks at seminary, and would not be home until the week after Kenn and Steph got home. They were prepared for that - but what they were not prepared for was that the dry walling which had been arranged to be done when everyone was gone, was still not finished when they got home. As such, not only were the walls of their living room, dining room and kitchen bare, but all the furniture - including their TV was stacked in a hallway, and therefore all unusable. Needless to say,
Stephanie was a little downhearted when she discovered this situation. Downhearted
that is, until she walked into her bedroom and saw a picture on her bulletin
board which she had drawn for the Sunday School class she was substitute
teaching for the week before she left on the Mission Adventure. There before
her was God's final rainbow of the trip, reassuring her that indeed everything
would be ok. Immediately the joy of the Lord returned.
Awesome trip,
Awesome fellowship, Awesome praise, Awesome prayer, Awesome warfare, Awesome
team members, Awesome YWAM staff, Awesome Missionaries, but most of
