Upon our arrival we were greeted by all the members of the YWAM road crew. They had smiles on their faces and had even put together a little package of goodies for each member of the team. I also cannot tell you what an absolute joy it was to see Don and Lynn and their family again. The UGM portion of the team had the privilige of having dinner with them in Casey, IL in September as they passed through on their way back East, but that was only for a vew hours. As wonderful as that visit was, this time we knew that we were going to spend several days with these blessed servants of the Lord, and we could hardly wait. That first evening was spent getting reoriented with the facilities at Many Waters and meeting with both Lynn and the road crew in order to find out what the adjenda was going to be for the next few days. After a time of prayer it was decided that we would head out the next day for a church service near Torreon, and then on to Counselor, where we would spend the next 2 1/2 days camping near Joe and Marlene's home. Each of these locations is on the Navajo reservation, and in each instance our brothers and sisters in the Lord who lived their had asked Lynn to bring groups out to them in order to help them bring the message of salvation to their friends and neighbors. During our time of prayer that evening the Lord reminded us of the seriousness of that which He had called us to do. He revealed to us that in at least one instance the children we were going to be visiting had cried out in prayer for 2 years for someone to spend time with them, play with them, listen to them and share the love of Jesus with them. Last year, although we put on VBS' in numerous locations, because of time constraints we had not had the opportunity to develop relationships with the people we were ministering to. This year, because we were going to be at one place for a longer period of time, we were going to be able to spend more time praying both for, and more importantly - with our brothers and sisters in the Lord who are Navajo. Now, as you will recall from reading the account of last year's trip, the Navajo Reservation is about the size of West Virginia, and it contains over 23,000 miles of roads. What we didn't report last year was the fact that only about 3,000 of these are paved. The rest are all dirt. Last year Lynn kept us mostly on the paved roads. This year she didn't Our first stop was the established church at Torreon. Prayer time just before worship Pastor Rose, Angie, Terah and Evan after church
When we arrived at Joe and Marlene's we helped them set up the large army tent that they use for services. As it was raining that evening, rather than try and set up our tents, all the guys slept in there and the girls slept in the vehicles. The next morning we set up the rest of the tents that the team would use for the remainder of our time with Joe and Marlene. Drawing and coloring Face painting
Towards the end of the VBS, Ernini asked the kids how many of them wanted
to accept Jesus into their hearts. What happened next was awesome. About
20 of them jumped to their feet and ran to him. They were all surrounding
him saying yes. We all prayed for them and rejoiced in what the Lord was
beginning to do in this little out of the way, wind blown, arid part of
NW New Mexico.
